Bishop Barbarito enjoying himself at the 12th Annual Catholic Men for Jesus Rally

This just so happens to be the largest event in the Diocese of Palm Beach, where we had a standing room only crowd of 1,300 men at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius of Loyola this past January 25th, 2014. That included one Holy Bishop, 35 priests, 25 deacons, a dozen seminarians and 6 Upper Room Boys. And, it also happened to be the “Feast Day of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle”, as Dr. Scott Hahn, world famous theologian and professor at Franciscan University in Steubenville, was our guest speaker and after his two one-hour talks on conversion and confession, he had everybody up on their feet clapping. A phenomenal event!

On January 31st, 2015, we will be running our “13th Annual Catholic Men for Jesus Rally” back at St. Ignatius – with fired up, featured speaker Jesse Romero – a Catholic author, radio host, motivational speaker and evangelist, from Sylmar, California. Jesse also happens to be a graduate of Franciscan University in Steubenville, where he received his Masters degree in Catholic Theology. This energetic bilingual evangelist runs a ministry called “On Fire Evangelization” and when Jesse speaks – everybody listens and – everybody gets fired up. Stay tuned for more up-coming information on this tremendous event coming to a cathedral near you…

Friends: “Catholic Men for Jesus Rally” is a wonderful event. It was founded by Vero Beach’s St. Helen’s parishioner, Jim Manhardt, almost 13 years ago and it has grown in leaps and bounds. From the original location at Cardinal Newman High School, where the Rally was run for its first 7 years, we moved it to St. Ignatius in 2010 and the diocese has never been the same. From crowds of 150-200 at Cardinal Newman to 1,300 last year, moving the Rally to the Cathedral was a blessing and a GOD-sent. St. Ignatius of Loyola – the bold soldier & founder of the Jesuits – would be more than proud of what we have done in his Cathedral the past 5 years…

Men come from everywhere – not just from our Palm Beach Diocese. They come from Miami to the west coast of Florida as well as numerous “snowbirds” who are down for the winter who know that this Rally is the place to get “Jesus energized”. And, that is what we do for those 6 hours…Between our incredible staff; the numerous priests who come to listen to confessions (from an estimated 900 men last year); the sponsors and promoters on the patio; the phenomenal guest speakers that we have every year (Curtis Martin, Ralph Martin, Peter Herbek, Matthew Kelly, Allen Hunt, Scott Hahn, over the past 5 years), it doesn’t get any better. Throw in the sounds of “The Upper Room Boys” and what more can one ask for? Maybe a beautiful Mass celebrated by our beloved Bishop Barbarito, con-celebrated by another 10 priests and 4 deacons…It is one incredible event in our beloved diocese and one of Bishop Barbarito’s favorite events of the entire year. Jesus, we Trust in You…

** Please keep our Brother, John Dean, a founding member of Catholic Men for Jesus, in your thoughts and prayers, as the Good Lord called John to be with Him on Pentecost Sunday, June 8th, to help build His Kingdom up in Heaven, as John was a wonderful architect. He will be missed by our entire Catholic Men for Jesus Rally Team. May John rest in peace in our Heavenly Father’s arms forever…Amen…
